Estate Planning

Everyone, young and old, married and unmarried, with a domestic partner, with children or without children can benefit from an estate plan if your assets are greater than $100,000. One of the primary goals of estate planning is to preserve the value of your assets when giving them to your beneficiaries by paying little or no estate or gift taxes. Another value to an estate plan is that it offers your family and loved ones protection from the complexities, hassles and delay of probating your estate in court.

We can address your goals and evaluate your assets to create a comprehensive estate plan to fit your specific needs. The plan can include a living trust, will or pourover will, durable powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, and an advanced health care directive.

An estate plan can help free you from worries you may have about who will take care of your minor children should you be unable to do so, who will make your health care decisions should you become incapacitated, who will take sentimental items of value, and who will take care of paying your bills when you pass on.

Construction Law

The construction industry is one of the most highly regulated professions in California. As a contractor, not knowing the law, missing a deadline, or not having necessary documentation could cost you more than the entire contract price. That’s why we believe that every contractor should have a lawyer to consult for their legal issues.

We can review your existing construction contracts; file and record mechanics liens; prepare correspondence relating to contract compliance, notices of default and for payment; engage in settlement negotiations to obtain payment and prepare mutual release agreements; file complaints to foreclose on mechanic’s liens; negotiate with your surety company regarding bond disputes; help you resolve disputes with an owner, general contractor or subcontractor; and defend you in actions that may be filed against you. Please call us regarding whether you qualify for our retainer program.

We also are experienced in handling homeowner claims. If you are a homeowner who has experienced a problem with your contractor or subcontractor regarding a contract for home improvement or repair. Give us a call and let us assist you to resolve the problem.
